#20 Field Hockey Drops OT Setback to Drexel

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – No. 20 William & Mary held strong for over 60 minutes of scoreless play against Drexel at Busch Field on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, in the early minutes of OT, the Dragons seized an offensive opportunity and pushed up the field to record the game-winning goal and the 1-0 win.

It was the fifth game this season, and the second in CAA play, that the Tribe (7-6, 1-2 CAA) needed extra time to decide a match.

After back-and-forth play by both teams in regulation, the Dragons (8-5, 2-1) finally broke through at the 62:18 mark. Taking advantage of the 7-on-7 play in overtime, Drexel's Cailey Lever moved the ball quickly and found Eline Di Leva for the lone tally of the day.

Junior goalkeeper Maddie George finished with five saves in cage, including several second-half plays that kept the Green and Gold in the match. She currently ranks among the conference leaders in save percentage (.814).

Drexel outshot the Tribe 7-2, while both teams drew three penalty corners.
