WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer hits the road for the first time this season, returning to Colonial Athletic Association play with a trip to Hofstra on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

- The Tribe leads the all-time series with Hofstra at 12-9-3, but the Pride hold a 5-3-2 advantage in Hempstead. Hofstra has won the last two in the series, including a 3-1 win in Williamsburg in 2019. W&M last defeated the Pride, 4-1, in Hempstead in the CAA quarterfinals thanks a four goals from Antonio Bustamante.
- Hofstra enters Saturday at 6-1 overall and 1-1 in CAA play. The Pride's lone loss was a 2-1 setback at Northeastern to open conference action and they also own a 2-1 win over Drexel at home last weekend. They are coming off a 3-2 home win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday. The Pride is ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region. Matthew Vowinkel leads them in scoring with four goals and an assist.
- On Tuesday night, the Tribe suffered a 3-2 setback to No. 17 Virginia Tech. W&M twice took the lead, going up 1-0 on
Nathan Messer's first-half goal and 2-1 on
Diba Nwegbo's 59th minute goal. Unfortunately the Hokies scored twice nearly 10 minutes apart in the 62nd and 72nd minutes to pull out the win.

Alexander Levengood (2g, 1a),
Nathan Messer (2g, 1a) and
Diba Nwegbo (2g, 2a) have accounted for six goals and four assists through the Tribe's opening four matches. Each player has scored a pair of goals on the year and are tied for fifth in the CAA in goals per game (0.5). Nwegbo leads the CAA in points per game at (1.5), while Levengood and Messer at tied for seventh (1.25).
- Both Nwegbo and senior
John Eberle have a pair of assists this season, which ranks sixth in the CAA. Nwegbo tallied helpers in wins over St. Francis (PA) and George Washington, while Eberle registered assists against the Colonials and most recently against nationally-ranked Virginia Tech.
- With its 1-0 win over George Washington on Sept. 14, the Tribe started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2010. The Green and Gold started shutout its first two opponents of the year marking the first time W&M opened with back-to-back shutouts since 1996. The Tribe won the CAA title and advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 in 2010, while also winning the league crown and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 1996.
- Junior goalkeeper
Connor Andrews made his first start for the Tribe since 2018 against Virginia Tech. He tallied six saves on the evening, including a number of impressive point-blank stops.
- Sophomore goalkeeper
Will Stack ranks second in the CAA and 29th nationally in goals against average (0.67), while ranking 30th in the country in save % (.833).
- As a team, the Tribe has placed 24 of their 41 shots on goal through the opening three games. W&M leads the CAA and ranks fifth nationally in shot accuracy at 58.5%.
- Both Levengood and Stack were ranked among the top 20 players in the CAA according to
Top Drawer Soccer. Levengood came in ninth, while Stack was one of two goalkeepers on the list and was No. 19.
