Brian Murphy Resigns as Head Baseball Coach

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Brian Murphy resigned his position as William & Mary's head baseball coach recently to accept the head coach spot at his alma mater Merrimack College.

Murphy spent nine seasons at William & Mary, including the last eight as the program's head coach. He won 189 games, including 79 in CAA play during his tenure. In total, the Tribe won 30 or more games in four of his season on the bench. Murphy was named the CAA Coach of the Year in 2014 and led the Tribe on a memorable run to the 2016 CAA Championship in Charleston. The Green and Gold went on to eliminate defending national champion Virginia on the way to the NCAA Regional finals.

W&M will begin a national search for a new head baseball coach. Pat McKenna, who has served as a Tribe assistant coach for the last five years, will serve as the program's interim head coach until Murphy's replace is found.
