Box Score WILMINGTON, N.C. – The William & Mary baseball team lost for just the second time in its last eight games and had its three-game winning streak snapped with an 11-0 setback at UNCW on Saturday afternoon.
After plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning, UNCW (22-16, 6-8) pulled away with six runs in the fifth before adding three more in the later frames.
RHP Adam Smith (4-1) earned the victory by allowing just one hit and three walks in 7.0 scoreless innings, while LHP Noah Overton pitched the final 2.0 innings without allowing a hit.
W&M (12-20, 9-8) starting LHP
Justin Pearson (3-5) allowed three earned runs on five hits and a pair of walks in 4.0 innings to take the loss.
Ben Williamson recorded the Tribe's lone hit in the first at bat of the contest.
UNCW's Kip Brandenburg went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Dillon Lifrieri went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Taber Mongero also provided production the plate for the Seahawks and drove in three runs, while Matt Suggs went 2-for-4 with two runs scored a RBI.
With the series even at one game apiece, W&M will look to claim its third consecutive series when the teams play on Sunday at 1 p.m.
