Men’s Gymnastics Places Second at ECAC Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. — The William & Mary men's gymnastics team placed second at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Army on Saturday afternoon.
 
Navy claimed the team title with a 397.8 and was followed by W&M (392.1), Army (388.05) and Springfield (381.75). In addition to totaling its best score of the season, W&M earned season highs on floor (67.5), rings (64.8), vault (70.25) and parallel bars (65.15).
 
Highlighting the Tribe's individual performances was Andrew Lyubovsky who won the parallel bars title with a season-high 13.6.
 
In total, nine Tribe standouts combined to earn 15 all-conference accolades for finishing among the top six in various events and all-around. Additionally, W&M earned four of the league's top awards for the season – Mike Powell (Coach of the Year), Bo Morris (Assistant Coach of the Year), Sam Lee (Rookie of the Year) and Jordan Kula (Most Improved).
 
Lyubovsky was one of five Tribe gymnasts who earned multiple all-conference accolades, as he placed second in all-around (77.2) in addition to his parallel bars title.
 
Ian Creelman, Christian Marsh, Aidan Cuy and Alek Kuzmenchuk  also earned multiple all-conference honors. Marsh placed second on parallel bars (13.5, career high), tied for fourth on pommel horse (13.0) and tied for sixth on rings (13.1), while Cuy finished third in all-around (75.6) and sixth on parallel bars (13.1). Creelman tied for third on high bar (13.15, season high) and tied for fourth on vault (14.2, equaled career high), while Kuzmenchuk placed sixth on rings (13.1, career high) and high bar (12.85).
 
Cutter Fugett nearly claimed the floor title and placed second with a season-high 13.95, finishing just .05 away from tying the meet's top score in the event.
 
Collin Lillie, Kula and Lee all tied for sixth on vault with a 14.15, as the score represented a career high for Kula and Lee while it was a season best for Lillie.
