CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — After posting tremendous performances during the first session of the qualifying round of competition at the Men's Gymnastics NCAA Championships hosted by Illinois, William & Mary standouts
Luke Tully and
Nicholas Kosarikov advanced to Saturday's finals in all-around and on parallel bars, respectively, and will compete for All-America honors.
Tully posted the best all-around score of the opening session with a 76.731, while he also placed fifth on high bar (13.433) and 12th on floor (13.233). Kosarikov qualified by placing seventh on parallel bars with a 13.233.
The finals will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. (CT) when the top eight competitors in all-around and each event will garner NCAA All-America distinction. The national championship will be televised live on ESPN2, while live scores will be available at
FightingIllini.com.
Tully and Kosarikov highlighted an impressive group of eight NCAA Championships individual qualifiers who competed for the Tribe during Friday's action.
Niko Greenly and
Ricky Pizem also recorded outstanding performances on floor (13.33) and high bar (13.1), respectively, and earned spots as first alternates for the finals. Greenly also placed 24th on parallel bars (12.433) and 28th on vault (12.0), while Pizem finished 22nd on vault (13.233).
Gavin Zborowski also competed in multiple events, placing 17th on rings (12.566) and 21st on pommel horse (12.833).
Michael Weiner (16th, 13.066) and
Evan Wilkins (17th, 12.833) posted top-20 finishes on floor and high bar, respectively, while
Jonathan Irwin competed on rings (24th, 12.166).
