The William & Mary women's swimming team continued to swim well at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships Tuesday, qualifying 17 women for this evening's finals across five events. In the preliminary scoring, the Tribe held steady in second overall with 315 points, while James Madison continues to lead with 477.
400 Individual Medley
Leading things off was the 400 IM, where senior
Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.) swam 4:23.09 to earn the second seed in tonight's finals. Sophomore
Kim Jogis (Larchmont, N.Y.) turned in a lifetime-best 4:24.43 to make the championship heat in fourth place, and improved to 11th all-time at W&M, while her classmate
Grace Tramack (Palo Alto, Calif.) made it three in the top heat with her seventh-place 4:28.54. Making the consolation finals was
Rebecca Rogers (Richmond, Va.), after swimming 4:34.63 for 14th overall.
100 Fly
Sophomore
Maura Graff (Henrico, Va.) made the championship finals in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 56.04 seconds for eighth overall and coming in just head of junior
Missy Cundiff (Leesburg, Va.) who was ninth in 56.09 to claim the top spot in the consolation finals. Senior
Madeleine High (Raleigh, N.C.) also made the B finals in 56.27, good for 12th overall.
200 Free
W&M put three women into the championship finals of the 200 free, led by sophomore
Katie Stevenson (Wilton, Conn.) as she has all season long. Stevenson was just .02 off her lifetime-best, advancing as the fourth seed in 1:50.03. Her classmate
Elizabeth Intihar (Columbus, Ohio) was sixth in 1:51.04, and senior
Tara Tiernan (West Hartford, Conn.) swam 1:51.14 for seventh overall.
100 Breast
The 100 breast saw the season's first school record go down, as sophomore
Annie Tuttle (Alexandria, Va.) blasted a 1:01.61 to earn the top seed in tonight's finals. A lifetime-best by nearly a second-and-a-half, Tuttle's performance also broke the W&M school record of 1:02.41 that
Jess Crowley '18 set at the 2017 CAA Championships. Sophomore
Peyton Proffitt (Richmond, Va.) was 10th in 1:05.79, and she'll be joined in the consolation finals by classmate
Brooke Lamoureux (Virginia Beach, Va.), 13th overall in 1:06.46.
100 Back
The final event of the morning was the 100 back, where
Anna Kenna (Chantilly, Va.) swam an easy 55.61 to make the championship finals in fifth place overall. Junior
Ellie Henry (Southern Pines, N.C.) swam a lifetime-best 56.67 to earn the top spot in the consolation finals, where she'll be joined by freshman
Kat Vanbourgondien (Virginia Beach, Va.), 13th in 57.42 seconds, and by the senior High, who was 15th in 58.02 seconds for her second finals qualifier of the day.
