Belle Martire Honored as CAA Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – After posting another tremendous performance in the William & Mary lacrosse team's victory against Campbell on Saturday, Belle Martire was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.

The honor marks the second time in the last three weeks that she has garnered the distinction.

Martire led W&M with a game-high eight points (7g, 1a) to help the Tribe rally back from a six-goal halftime deficit. The Baltimore, Md., native also equaled a career high with eight draw controls to go with two caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Martire continues to rank among the nation's best in multiple statistical categories: free position goals per game (second, 2.33), free position shooting percentage (seventh, 9.33), goals per game (11th, 4.33), points per game (12th, 5.5) and shooting percentage (11th, .667).

In addition to being the second time this season Martire has earned player of the week honors, it marks the third time during her career that she has garnered the accolade.

W&M will return to action when it concludes its non-conference schedule against Radford at Busch Turf on Saturday at 4 p.m.
