WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary baseball is back home in Williamsburg this weekend for a three-game set with CAA preseason favorite UNCW. The Tribe is coming off a 1-2 trip to College of Charleston last weekend. The teams will meet for a Saturday doubleheader at noon and finish the series with a 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Plumeri Park.

UNCW has had the historical advantage over the Tribe owning a 13-8 edge over W&M in Williamsburg. Coach Murphy's squad was able to sweep a three-game series with the Seahawks in Wilmington midway through the 2019 season, but UNCW got the best of the Tribe the last time out in a 5-1 decision in the 2019 CAA Tournament.

UNCW comes to Williamsburg on a tear winning five straight games. Last week saw the Seahawks sweep Appalachian State before downing No. 7 ECU on the road Wednesday night. Wilmington was 11-5 before play stopped last season.

Starter Wade Strain will have the ball to start the weekend off for the Tribe looking to replicate his past two outings both resulting in wins. Strain tossed 7.0 scoreless innings in the Tribe's win over George Mason two weeks ago before throwing 7.1 and striking out a career high seven batters earning a win at Charleston last weekend.

Zach Tsakounis and Ben Greenspon joined Strain putting in solid starts for the Green and Gold. The Tribe's starting rotation combined to allow just eight runs over the three-game set with the Cougars.

Ben Williamson enters the weekend leading the Tribe with 12 hits on the season. The sophomore third baseman had four knocks in game one of last Saturday's doubleheader at Charleston and has hit safely in five straight games.

Williamson is not the only W&M player to be riding a hitting streak into the weekend as Matt McDermott has six straight ballgames with a hit, the longest such streak for any William & Mary player this season. Hunter Hart joins Williamson as having hit safely in five straight games.
