Volleyball Downed By Delaware

 
NEWARK, DEL.- William & Mary volleyball fell in three sets to Delaware Saturday afternoon. Despite 13 kills from Julia Brown, the Blue Hens took three sets, all by the score of 25-19 to earn a win in the match. 
 
Brown led the Tribe with the 13 kills and continued her all-league worthy season hitting .360 in the match and adding a block. Kaitlyn Ferguson was outstanding hitting .545 and adding a pair of blocks to her seven kills. 
 
Sabrina Malcolm was all over the net with five blocks on the afternoon, and Lauren Merrill added six blocks to go with six digs and a service ace. Amy Schwem produced another double-double with 20 assists and a team-high 10 digs. 
 
In the opening frame, the two teams traded blows early before Delaware used a 6-0 run to pull away to a 18-11 advantage. The Tribe battled back, narrowing the lead to 21-19. Despite four kills from Lauren Merrill and three kills and a pair of blocks from Malcolm, the Hens would take a 25-19 win. 
 
Delaware rushed out to a quick 7-3 advantage, but once again the Tribe rallied to narrow the gap. Brown took over offensively, hitting for six kills with zero errors, but the Tribe would not be able to overcome some late mistakes in a 25-19 second set loss. 
 
It was the Tribe jumping out to an early lead in the third, earning a 4-2 advantage. The Green and Gold would not be able to hold on to the lead, hitting just .000 as a team in the third, as Delaware would once again, earn a 25-19 set win to take the match.

The same two teams will be back on the court tomorrow afternoon in the Tribe's regular season finale.
