WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Fresh off back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association wins, William & Mary field hockey hits the road for a pair of matches this weekend. The Tribe travels to instate foe Richmond on Friday, Oct. 8, before heading to Towson on Sunday, Oct. 10, for a CAA match.
Friday's match at Richmond will be streamed on ESPN+, while Sunday's tilt will be available on FloLive.
All Tribe home matches and all contests in CAA play will be streamed on FloLive.

- The Tribe (2-6, 2-0 CAA) is coming off its first two wins of the season to start CAA play, knocking off Hostra, 3-2 in a shootout, and Northeastern, 4-3. With the wins, W&M opened CAA play 2-0 for the fourth time in the last five seasons. W&M started 3-0 in 2017 and then 4-0 in both 2018 and 2019.
- W&M and Richmond meet for the first time since 2016. The Tribe holds a 50-29-11 mark against the Spiders. W&M won the last meeting 3-0 in 2016 in Richmond.
- Richmond is 3-8 on the year following a 4-3 loss at No. 19 Old Dominion on Oct. 3. The Spiders are 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play with victories over Saint Louis (4-0), La Salle (3-1) and Davidson (4-0). Their lone league loss was to No. 8-ranked Saint Joseph's. Steffie Bongers leads the Spiders in scoring at 14 points on five goals and four assists while Lindsey Frank owns 11 points on four goals and three assists. Erika Latta has played every minute in goal for UR and owns a 1.90 GAA with 59 saves.
- The Tribe has won nine straight over Towson and holds a 27-3-1 advantage in the all-time series. W&M topped the Tigers 2-0 last season in Williamsburg, including a goal from
Sally Snead. The last time W&M traveled to Towson, it picked up a 3-1 win in 2018, including a goal from
Cara Menges.
- Towson is 2-9 on the year and 0-2 in CAA play. In league action, the Tigers suffered a 4-1 setback at Drexel and a 5-0 loss at No. 23 Delaware. Towson hosts JMU on Friday night before welcoming the Tribe on Sunday. Towson's victories on the year came over La Salle and LIU by matching 1-0 scores. Georgia Beachley leads Towson in scoring with two goals and two assists. Lena Vandam has played every minute in goal for the Tigers. She owns a 2.52 GAA and ranks second in the country in saves with 102.

Pyper Friedman was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday. Friedman tallied the decisive shootout conversation it the Tribe's 3-2 shootout win over Hofstra on Friday. She added her first career goal in W&M's 4-3 win over Northeastern on Sunday.

Lauren Curran was named the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday. Curran scored a goal in each of the Tribe's CAA wins over Hofstra and Northeastern. Her tally against the Huskies with one second remaining in the second quarter was her first career game-winner.
- Curran leads the Tribe with nine points on four goals and an assist. She ranks fifth in the CAA in goals per game (0.5), which is 63rd nationally, and eighth in points per game (1.12). Curran has scored in each of W&M's last three games.

Ireland Miller scored their first collegiate goals last weekend. Richbourg scored the Tribe's second goal in the win over Hofstra, while Miller converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter vs. Northeastern. Sophomore

Maddie George has started the last four matches for W&M, including the wins over Hofstra and Northeastern. In her first start of the season, she tallied a career-high nine saves in a 2-0 setback at No. 12 Liberty on Sept. 19. In W&M's shootout win over Hofstra, George denied three Pride tries to lead the Tribe to the 3-2 win. She ranks fourth in the CAA and 58th nationally in goals against average at 2.39 to go with 19 saves.
- The Tribe ranks 12th nationally in defensive saves with four. Senior

Rachel Gantz each have one.
- The Tribe's 2021 schedule is loaded with nationally-ranked competition. W&M has already faced No. 8 Virginia, No. 12 Liberty, No. 16 Penn State and No. 18 Duke. The Tribe has three remaining contests against nationally-ranked foes in No. 12 Virginia (Oct. 20), No. 17 Old Dominion (Oct. 24) and No. 21 Delaware (Oct. 17). In total, the Tribe's non-conference schedules features six of nine matches against nationally-ranked competition.
