WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Winners of two-straight, including a Tuesday night victory at NC State, William & Mary men's soccer continues its road trip, returning to CAA play at Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium in Newark.

- On Tuesday, the Tribe posted its first ACC road win since 2014, knocking off NC State, 1-0, on a
Nathan Messer goal in the 55th minute. Junior
Diba Nwegbo tallied the assist after firing a shot off the left post that Messer jumped on and one-time over NC State goalkeeper Leon Krapf. It marked the Tribe seventh win over the ACC in the last 11 years and the first on the road since downing both Pittsburgh and No. 1 North Carolina in 2014.
- In the win over NC State, junior goalkeeper
Connor Andrews turned in an impressive performance, recording a career-high eight saves. It marked Andrews' second-straight shutout and third of the year. He has started six of the Tribe's last seven matches and ranks fourth in the CAA in saves per game at 4.42 and fifth in shutouts (3).
- Delaware has struggled in 2021, sitting at 1-10-1 overall and 0-6 in CAA play. UD has dropped four straight since its lone win over the year, 3-1, at UMBC. In its last two contests, the Blue Hens dropped tough overtime contests at home against No. 12-ranked Maryland, 1-0, and to CAA foe Charleston, 4-3. Carlos Fernandez leads UD with 10 points on three goals and four assists, while Elnar Hardarson has three goals as well. In goal, Scott Sampson has started eight times, posting a GAA of 2.55 to go with 41 saves.
- W&M leads the all-time series with Delaware at 16-7-2, including a 7-3-1 advantage in Newark. The Tribe has outscored the Blue Hens, 53-28, over the 25 matches. The last time the teams met, W&M notched a 5-1 win in Williamsburg. The Tribe owns a 3-0-1 mark against UD over the last four meetings, including two wins in Newark in 2018.
- The junior trio of
Alexander Levengood,
Nathan Messer and
Diba Nwegbo have combined for 11 goals and nine assists this season. In total, the group has accounted for 11 of W&M's 13 goals and nine of the 14 Green and Gold assists. At least one of the trio has factored in all 13 Tribe goals this season, including six goals where two of the three combined for the goal.
- W&M heads to Delaware in need of CAA wins to get back into the race for one of the four league tournament playoffs spots. The Tribe has won two of its last three league games, including a 1-0 win over Charleston on Oct. 2 and a 2-0 triumph over Drexel on Oct. 16.
- The Tribe's six losses this season have come to teams with a combined record of 54-20-10 (.715). Four of the six setbacks have come to teams in the national rankings. On Tuesday, Virginia Tech was No. 13, Hofstra No. 19 and James Madison No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches Rankings, while Wake Forest (No. 18), Hofstra (No. 20) and Virginia Tech (No. 21) were in the Top Drawer Soccer's Rankings on Monday.
- Levengood and Nwegbo are tied for the team lead in points (11), goals (4) and assists (3). Both players ranked eighth in the CAA in goals per game (0.36) nad seventh in points per game (1.0). Levengood has scored three of his four goals in CAA play, while Nwegbo tallied his first career game-winning goal in the Tribe's 2-0 win over Drexel.
- W&M posted its fourth and fifth shutouts of the year in the last two matches vs. Drexel (2-0) and NC State (1-0). The Green and Gold has shutout its opponents in all five of its wins in 2021. The Tribe ranks second in the CAA in shutout % (45.5).
