WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- The Tribe is gearing up for a pair of midweek games visiting George Washington on Tuesday before returning home to face George Mason Wednesday afternoon. The Green and Gold will look to build on Sunday's 13-2 win over Georgetown.
Through eleven ballgames,
Brandon Raquet has been the story offensively for the Tribe. The senior leads the CAA and is tied for the NCAA lead with three triples. Raquet also paces the conference in slugging percentage, home runs, runs scored, and total bases.
As a team, the Tribe ranks in top-ten nationally in a variety of categories. The Tribe continues to lead the NCAA with nine triples, eight coming in a three-game sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson. The Green and Gold rank tied for seventh nationally having turned 13 double plays and stand eighth nationally with 74 bases on balls.
Tyler Solomon and
Matt Thomas have both walked 13 times and are tied for the CAA lead.
Thomas has paired his patience at the plate with a hot bat to put together an impressive 10 game on-base streak. The outfielder has swatted 10 hits and scored 10 runs during the streak. Senior backstop
Matthew Trehub has an impressive streak of his own having hit safely in the last seven ballgames. It is the longest such streak for any Tribe player this season.
The Tribe will be looking for its first win at George Washington since taking a pair of road victories over the Colonials in 2015. The two teams split a pair of midweek games last season with the home team winning each contest.
Wednesday's game with George Mason will mark the 51st time the two teams have played in Williamsburg with each side having 25 wins. Last season the Tribe took a 5-1 decision at George Mason in the only meeting between the in-state foes.
