Game Notes Ā William & Mary

Brian Murphy's team will look to keep the bats hot after exploding for 37 runs in three wins over FDU last weekend. The Tribe recorded 38 hits in the season's first series at Plumeri Park and walked 29 times. W&M hitters tripled eight times in the three games, and the Tribe leads the NCAA with nine three-baggers on the season.Ā
Ā
Brandon Raquet smashed six of the team's 38 hits, five for extra bases. The senior swatted his second home run of the season and added a trio of triples and a double, scoring three times and driving in eight runs in the sweep. Raquet leads the nation with three triples and is tied for 27th in the NCAA with 22 total bases.Ā
Ā
Cole Ragone had a breakout weekend for the Tribe with a team-high seven hits in the three games. Ragone scored a pair of runs in each of the three contests and knocked in two RBI. The sophomore had a pair of doubles and one of the Tribe's eight triples.Ā
Ā
Virginia is coming off a 4-1 week with a midweek win against VMI and a 3-1 series win over Bucknell. The Cavaliers are averaging nearly seven runs per ballgame and the pitching staff has been stingy with a 3.38 team ERA striking out 92 batters and allowing just 37 walks.Ā
Ā
The contest will mark the 77th meeting between the instate-rivals and the 46th game in Charlottesville. UVA holds a 33-11-1 advantage in home matchups but the Tribe got the best of the Cavaliers in a 9-3 win in Charlottesville last season.
