Game Notes  William & Mary

It will be the Tribe's fourth consecutive game against a nationally ranked team after this past weekend's three-game series with No. 21 ECU, marking the first time since 2001 that the Green and Gold has opened with four straight games against ranked opposition. It is also the first time since 2016 that the Tribe opens the year with four straight road games. Duke is coming off a 2-1 opening weekend series win over Army.

Junior Matt McDermott leads the Tribe through the first three games with four hits. The second baseman also walked twice and stole a pair of bases. Junior transfer Tyler Solomon was the only Tribe player to hit safely in all three games with a pair of doubles and two runs batted in. Matt Thomas also had a pair of RBI and scored twice in the season-opening series.

In addition to receiving a phenomenal Opening Day start from senior Chris Farrell, the Tribe saw key contributions by Randy Prosperi and Rojo Prarie out of the bullpen. Prosperi threw a pair of clean innings out of the pen retiring all six batters he faced while Prarie struck out three allowing one run in 3.1 innings over two appearances.
