Season Preview

Scouting the Tribe
- The Tribe sits at 0-4-2 on the year following a pair of setbacks in Philadelphia last week at Saint Joseph's, 4-1, and at Drexel, 201.
- Against the Dragons, the Tribe dropped its first CAA match of the season despite outshooting DU, 11-10. Drexel scored twice in the second half, and W&M answered with an Alexander Levengood penalty kick in the 78th minute to cut the deficit to the final margin of 2-1.
- Freshman goalkeeper Kieran Baskett earned a pair of honors for his performance in the Tribe's 1-1 draws with then-No. 24-ranked NC State and UNCW. He was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week and selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Baskett notched seven saves against the Wolpack and 11 stops against the Seahawks.
- Baskett's 11 saves against the Seahawks were the most for a W&M player since 1998 when Adin Brown tallied 12 against St. John's. The total was the most in a CAA game since 2015 and the eighth-most in the country this season.
- In the draw with UNCW on Sept. 14, the Tribe scored 35 seconds into the match as freshman Alexander Levengood notched his second goal of the season. It marks the fastest goal for the Tribe since it scored 18 seconds into a win over VCU in 2016.
- Senior Reeves Trott and freshman Diba Nwegbo tallied assists on Levengood's goal against NC State. It was the sixth assist of Trott's career, while it was Nwegbo's first career point.
- Levengood ranks fourth in the CAA with three goals and seventh in points.
- Each of the last four games, the Tribe started five freshmen. It marks the first time five rookies started for W&M since 2015. Freshmen Marcos Villeda and Alfredo Bozalongo have joined, Nwegbo, Baskett and Levengood in the starting lineup.
- Senior Cole Smith scored the Tribe's lone goal, notching the equalizer in the 83rd minute of the 1-1 draw with NC State. It was his second career goal.
- Senior Julian Ngoh, who scored at Saint Joseph's, ranks second on the team with four points on a goal and two assists. His two helpers are tied for the CAA lead.
- Baskett leads the CAA in saves (31) and saves per game (5.17), while ranking third in save percentage (.738) and eighth in goals against average (1.71). His save total ranks 21st nationally.
- Junior Sam Golan, who was an All-CAA third-team selection in 2018, and freshman Alfredo Bozalongo have been the Tribe's ironmen so far in 2019. They are the only two W&M field players to play all 580 minutes.
- In total, over half of the Tribe's starts this season (35-of-66) have come from its underclassmen – freshmen and sophomores. The rookies own 27 of those starts.

Scouting Loyola Maryland
- Loyola Maryland enters Tuesday's match at 2-4 on the year. The Greyhounds dropped their opening four matches of the year, all away from home.
- Loyola suffered 2-1 setbacks at NC State, at Appalachian State and to No. 10 Virginia Tech in Harrisonburg, Va. They also dropped a 3-2 double-overtime decision at James Madison.
- The Greyhounds have won their last two matches, including the Patriot League opener at home against Army, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon. Loyola also topped Princeton at home, 2-0.
- Senior Brian Saramago tallied his third career hat trick in the 4-0 win over Army. He leads the team with seven points on three goals and an assist.
- The Greyhounds own each of the last two Patriot League regular season championships and is the preseason favorite to do so once again.
- Senior Barry Sharifi, who has five points on two goals and an assist this season, was the Patriot League Preseason Midfielder of the Year, while Saramago was the preseason offensive player of the year after winning the honor in both 2017 and 2019.
- Both Saramago and Sharifi were United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Americans last season. The pair was also selected to the preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
- Justin Ingram, who scored the game-winner vs. Army on a PK, is tied for the team lead with two assists along with Davey Mason.
- Junior goalkeeper Chase Vosvick has played every minute in goal for the Greyhounds and owns a goals against average of 1.46 to go with 20 saves and two shutouts.   He was named to the preseason all-league team.
