HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The William & Mary baseball team split a Friday doubleheader at Hofstra. The Tribe fell in game one 4-3, before cruising to a 12-2 victory in the second game of the twin bill. With the results, the Tribe is now 30-20, 11-12 in CAA play, while the Pride sits at 18-30-1, 10-13 in league action.
Hofstra scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and held on late to beat the Tribe in game one. Kevin O'Connor provided the big spark as he blasted a three-run homer with two outs in the inning. The Pride held off W&M as the Tribe scored a single run in the eighth before junior
Brandon Raquet brought it within one with a two-out two-run homer in the ninth.
The Tribe kept the momentum from its rally in game one to start the second game as it scored its second-most runs in CAA play as it won 12-2. The big inning was the top of the second as W&M crossed the plate six times to break the game open. Senior
Hunter Smith collected his 12th homer, a three-run shot, in the frame.

Kyle Wrighte led the Tribe going 5-for-9 in the two contests with an RBI. Junior
Brandon Raquet had a pair of multi-hit games going 4-for-7 with six RBI across the two games.

How it Happened
- The Pride struck for four runs in the fourth. Kevin O'Connor provided the big blow of the inning, hitting a two-out, three-run home run to left field. Following the blast, Daniel Page singled through the right side and stole second base. Sean Rausch advanced him 90-feet with a single, and the pair executed a double steal to score Hofstra's fourth run of the frame.
- W&M got on the board with a run in the top of the seventh inning. Junior
Matthew Trehub led off the inning with a double to center field. The next batter, senior
Jason Waldman, who was pinch-hitting, singled up the middle to cut the deficit to 4-1.
- The Tribe rallied in the ninth, but could only bring the score within a run. With two outs, sophomore
David Hogarth singled up the middle. Junior
Brandon Raquet followed by blasting a homer over the left field wall to make it 4-3.

How it Happened
- The Tribe took a commanding lead with a six-run top of the second inning. With one out, sophomore
Matt McDermott started the rally with a double to left field, before senior
Kyle Wrighte singled up the middle to open the scoring. After the second out, senior
Owen Socher walked, and junior
Brandon Raquet shot a single up the middle to bring home Wrighte. Senior
Zach Pearson followed with an RBI infield single before classmate
Hunter Smith belted his 12th homer of the season, a three-run shot to make it 6-0.
- W&M added another run in the top of the fifth inning. McDermott singled, before moving into scoring position as he stole second. With two-outs, freshman
Jack Cone singled up the middle to make it 7-0.
- Back-to-back hits from Parker Quinn and a double from Sean Rausch to lead off the fifth gave the Pride a pair of runners in scoring position. Ryan Morash plated the home team's first run of game two with a ground out to second. Sheehan limited the damage inducing a 5-4-3 double play off the bat of Vito Friscia.
- After a strikeout to start the inning by sophomore reliever
Randy Prosperi, Hofstra loaded the bases in the seventh via a hit by pitch, single, and a walk. Friscia drove home the Pride's second run of the game with a single to left field. Sophomore left-hander
Justin Pearson came out of the bullpen and forced Rob Weissheier to ground into an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play.
- W&M added an insurance run in the eighth. After back-to-back singles from Wrighte and Cone, Raquet drove home his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to left field to bring home Wrighte and increase the lead to 8-2.
- The Tribe added four more runs in the ninth inning to push the margin to 12-2. W&M started the frame by loading the bases via a pair of Hofstra errors and a walk. McDermott plated Smith with a sac fly to center field, and Socher drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in junior
Matthew Trehub. Raquet punched a single through the right side to drive in the final two Tribe runs of the inning.
