TOWSON, Md. – After opening the weekend with a pair of victories at Towson, the William & Mary baseball team was edged by the Tigers, 4-3, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
The Tribe (25-19, 7-11) led 3-0 late in the contest, but Towson (12-31, 6-9) scored a pair of runs in the seventh and ninth innings to earn the comeback victory.
RHP Jake Pecilunas (2-0) logged 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the victory, while RHP
Chris Farrell (3-2) suffered the loss after allowing both of Towson's runs in the ninth.
Although he did not earn a decision, Tribe starter, LHP
Zach Tsakounis, pitched 4.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. RHP

Randy Prosperi and LHP
Justin Pearson combined for 3.1 innings with just one earned run allowed out of the bullpen.
Matt McDermott led W&M at the plate and went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base, while
Hunter Smith and
Matthew Trehub both went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

How it Happened
- W&M jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning. After
Owen Socher drew a leadoff walk and
Zach Pearson reached when he was hit by a pitch, Smith drove in the initial run with a single up the middle. Trehub plated the second run with a sac fly to left.
- Towson had a scoring opportunity in the bottom half of the second inning but came up empty after leaving the bases loaded.
- W&M added a run in the top of the fifth on a one-out sac fly to center by
Jack Cone that plated McDermott, who led off the inning with an infield single.
- Towson narrowed the margin to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. After Richard Miller led off the frame with a single, Trent Gast-Woodard recorded an RBI double to left and came all the way around to score on an error.
- The Tigers completed the comeback with a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth. After Jack Rotteveel and Miller led off the inning with back-to-back walks, Gast-Woodard moved both runners into scoring position with a sac bunt. Tom Flacco plated the tying run with a groundout to the pitcher before Javon Fields drove in the game-winning run with a single to shallow right.

Notes
Despite the loss, W&M is 12-8 (.667) on the road this season … Although
Zach Pearson had his seven-game hitting streak snapped, he reached base safely for the 17th straight game … It is the team's longest active streak and is the second-longest by a Tribe player this season … McDermott posted his 11th multi-hit game this season, which ranks tied for second on the team.
