RICHMOND, Va. — After posting tremendous performances in the William & Mary lacrosse team's games against Delaware and Towson, freshman standout Belle Martire was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.
 
The honor marks the third time this season Martire has garnered the distinction.
 
Martire finished the week with a team-high eight goals on just 11 shots (.727). Additionally, she totaled four draw controls, a caused turnover and a ground ball.
 
Martire's best performance came in the overtime win against Delaware, as she scored a team-high five goals – highlighted by the game-winner. The Houston, Texas native also recorded two draw controls versus the Blue Hens.
 
She followed up her impressive effort against UD by scoring three goals on just four shots at Towson. Additionally, she added two draw controls, a caused turnover and a ground ball.
 
Martire currently ranks second in the CAA in goals per game (3.0) and leads the conference in game-winning goals (3).
 
The Tribe will return to action when it plays at No. 11 James Madison on Sunday at 1 p.m.
