WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After a sizzling Sunday start, William & Mary baseball freshman
Zach Tsakounis was honored with his second CAA Rookie of the Week Award, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
In the second weekend start of his career, Tsakounis hurled six shutout innings to help W&M complete a three-game sweep at UNCW. He scattered six hits and fanned four batters. The Arlington, Va., native didn't allow a runner past second base over the first five innings and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the sixth. The lefty improved his record to 4-0 and ranks eighth in the CAA with a 1.53 ERA.
Tsakounis garnered his first weekly award for the week of March 5 after limiting Virginia to only one run across 6.1 innings. The Tribe totals four CAA awards with three of them giving to a pitcher. Freshman RHP
Tristan Snyder also claimed Rookie of the Week accolades on Feb. 19, while sophomore
Matt McDermott was named Player of the Week for March 5.
The Tribe is back action with a home game against Big Ten foe Maryland on Wednesday April 3 at 4 pm.
