Men's Golf Hosts the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate Sunday-Tuesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's golf team hosts a spring tournament in Williamsburg for the 41st season dating back to 1978 as it hosts the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate. However for the first time since 2005 the Golden Horseshoe will host the event on Sunday, March 23 through Tuesday, March 25. Live scoring is available by clicking here.
 
Scouting the Field
W&M hosts 20 other teams at the event on Sunday-Thursday. The teams will be  playing the Gold Course at the Golden Horseshoe, which plays as a par 71 and stretches 6,817-yards. Binghamton, Campbell, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Fairleigh Dickinson, Longwood, Loyola, Mount St. Mary's, Ohio, Old Dominion, Penn, Radford, St. Bonaventure, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Francis (NY), St. Joseph's, St. Peter's,  Temple, VCU, and Youngstown State join the Tribe in Williamsburg this week.
 
Scouting the Tribe
William & Mary returns home for the first time this year as it hosts the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate Sunday through Tuesday. The Green and Gold is competing in its eighth event of the season, and is averaging a 293.90 stroke per round score.
 
Although the scorning lineup has not been set, all nine Tribe men golfers will be playing in the event in the scoring lineup or as individuals. Junior Walker Campbell, who has appeared in 15 rounds, leads the team with a 72.80 stroke per round score this season.
 
Senior David Hicks and sophomore Trevor Hecht are the only two Tribe players to appear in every round this season. Hicks is second on the team with a 73.15 stroke per round score and is coming off of back-to-back top-10 finishes this spring. Meanwhile, Hecht is averaging a 74.75 stroke per round score in his 20 rounds.
 
Freshman Matthew Feinstein, who has been in the played in both events this spring, has appeared in the third most rounds this season, playing 17. Senior Gavin deFisser (five rounds) and sophomore Otto Voettiner (nine rounds) will also appear in the event. Gavin deFisser is averaging a 74.20 stroke per round score. Finally both sophomore Garrett deFisser and freshman Jack Grier will make their season debuts in the event.
 
What's Ahead
The William & Mary men's golf team rounds out the regular season as it travels to the Rutherford Intercollegiate on April 13-14. The two-day event will be played at the Penn State Golf Course in State College, Pa.
