RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary women's basketball senior
Bianca Boggs was named First-Team All-State by the
Richmond Times-Dispatch on Wednesday morning.
Boggs put together one of the best seasons in W&M history in her final campaign in the Green and Gold. She led the team with 17.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists per game. She is the only player in the CAA that ranks in the top five in the league in those three categories. Boggs' 530 points are the most in school single-season history. She also leads the team with 70 steals, which is second in the CAA, and 30 blocks as she earned a spot on the league's all-defensive squad. Earlier this season, she was named the CAA Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 31.
For her career, the Waldorf, Md. native ranks sixth in school history with 1,455 career points. She is the first player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point, 500-rebounds, and 300-assists plateau. She ranks in the top 10 in W&M history in 16 different career categories. She was named to the All-CAA First-Team and the CAA All-Defensive Team, which gives Boggs five postseason awards, with her two awards last year and all-rookie team selection as a freshman. Only three different Tribe players have been named to the CAA First-Team, and all three have been selected to the team at least twice. Boggs joins Kyra Kaylor (three times) and Ashleigh Akens (twice) as multiple time First-Team All-CAA selections.
Boggs is the third player under head coach
Ed Swanson to claim all-state honors from the
Richmond Times-Dispatch joining Alexandra Masaquel, who was second-team in 2016-17, and Kaitlyn Mathieu, who earned honorable mention honors in 2013-14. She joins Kyra Kaylor as the only first-team selection, and is one of five all-time selections for W&M.
