The William & Mary women's swimming team earned three podium finishes on Friday night at the Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational, and added another podium finish to boot.
- First up was the 200 free relay, where the team of
Tess Ruona (Medford, N.J.),
Nina Lesser (Centerport, N.Y.),
Emily Schroeder (West Windsor, N.J.), and
Emma Herold (Kohler, Wisc.) combined to time 1:39.29 and finish second overall.
- In the 500 free, junior
Yuka Kuwahara (Ashburn, Va.) swam 5:02.04 for third overall, and Ruona made the quick turnaround to finish ninth overall in 5:20.99.
- Senior
Abby Jones (Manakin-Sabot, Va.) cut two seconds from her morning performance in the 200 IM, and improved to third overall in 2:08.43. Freshman
Rebecca Rogers (Richmond, Va.) time-trialed the event after the session, and swam a lifetime-best 2:06.74.
- Finishing out the night was the 50 free, where the senior Lesser stopped the clock in 24.51 seconds for seventh overall. Her classmate Schroeder was 14th in 25.18 seconds, and Herold was 15th in 25.39 seconds.
The Nike Invitational resumes on Saturday morning at 10 a.m., at Duke's Taishoff Pavilion.
