The William & Mary women's swimming team used another strong evening session at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Friday to take a slim lead heading into the meet's final day. The Tribe scored over 200 points on the day to improve to 442 total points, two ahead of second place James Madison with Towson third with 352.5 points.
400 IM
- Junior
Julia Bland (Sea Girt, N.J.) led the way in the 400 IM, earning her second silver medal of the week with a lifetime-best time of 4:20.43 for second overall. That was the fifth-fastest race in school history, and moved Bland up to fourth all-time among athletes.
- Also in the championship finals, senior
Morgan Smith (Verona, N.J.) took fifth overall in a season-best 4:24.66, and freshman
Gabby Zhang (Ashburn, Va.) swam a lifetime-best 4:26.57 for seventh place. Zhang improved herself to 12th all-time at W&M with that effort.
- Another freshman,
Rebecca Rogers (Richmond, Va.) moved up in a big way in the consolation finals. Seeded 15th coming in, Rogers swam a lifetime-best 4:27.04 to take 10th place, and also improved to 15th among Tribe athletes all-time.
100 Fly
- In the 100 fly, senior
Katie Sell (Fredericksburg, Va.) finished just 0.01 off her time from prelims and maintained her seeding, finishing fourth overall in 55.06 seconds.
- Her classmate
Maria Oceguera (New Rochelle, N.Y.) also maintained her spot in fifth overall, and like Sell stopped the clock precisely 0.01 off her prelim time in 55.09 seconds.
- In the consolation finals, sophomore
Madeline High (Raleigh, N.C.) was 11th overall in 55.53 seconds, adding six points to the team total.
200 Free
- Sophomore
Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.) finished second overall in the 200 free in 1:48.15, earning her third all-conference award of the week. That was the fifth-fastest race in school history.
- Her classmate
Tara Tiernan (West Hartford, Conn.) swam a lifetime-best 1:49.59, finishing sixth overall. Tiernan now ranks seventh all-time in school history.
- In the consolation finals, freshman
Inez Olszewski (New York, N.Y.) swam her fourth lifetime-best of the weekend, stopping the clock in 1:50.56 and finishing 10th overall. Olszewski also moved up on the W&M all-time list, standing 12th in school history
100 Breast
- In the 100 breast, junior
Lauren Freeman (Fairfax Station, Va.) and her teammates swept the top three spot of the consolation finals, with Freeman leading the way with a lifetime-best 1:03.55 for ninth overall. That was tied for the 15th-fastest race in school history, and improved Freeman to sixth in school history among Tribe athletes.

Claire Williams (Apex, N.C.), 10th in a season-fast 1:03.56, and right behind Williams was freshman
Ellie Henry (Southern Pines, N.C.), who swam a lifetime-best 1:04.02 for 11th overall. Henry now ranks 12th in school history.
- Sophomore
Diana Tramontano (Greenwich, Conn.) rounded out the line-up, finishing 15th overall in 1:04.73 for two more points.
100 Back
- In the 100 back, freshman
Anna Kenna (Chantilly, Va.) swam a lifetime-best 55.52 seconds to place fifth overall, and rank fourth all-time at W&M.
- Her classmate
Sonora Baker (Mechanicsville, Va.) took seventh overall, stopping the clock in 55.98 seconds.
- High was swimming her second final of the night, and went a lifetime-best 56.80 seconds to place 14th overall.
400 Medley Relay
The final event of the day was the 400 medley relay, where the Tribe finished third overall for all-conference honors in 3:43.74. The freshman Kenna led things off in 55.79 seconds, before handing off to Freeman who split 1:03.18 on the breaststroke leg. Oceguera swam the fly leg in 54.50 seconds, and Bull brought the team home in a 50.27 split in the 100 free. That was the fifth-fastest race ever at W&M, and gave the Tribe All-CAA honors in the 400 medley relay for the first time since 2017.
The final day of the CAA Championships begins Saturday morning at 10 a.m., with prelims in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly.
