WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Former William & Mary men's gymnastics standout
David Allen '19 was recently selected as an initiate to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Allen becomes the third member of last year's men's gymnastics graduating class to garner the distinction, joining
Jacopo Gliozzi and
Peter Makey.
Additionally, with Allen's selection, a total of 78 W&M student-athletes have garnered the honor since 1990, while the department's all-time count now stands at 274 (since 1899).
A team captain, Allen was a two-time All-ECAC standout on high bar and garnered USAG Collegiate All-America honors three times in the event. He ranks seventh in the program's record book on high bar.
Allen's long list of accolades also includes earning USAG Collegiate All-America distinction in all-around as a sophomore.
In addition to garnering W&M's Provost Award multiple times for academic excellence, he was a four-time College Gymnastics Association first-team Academic All-American Scholar-Athlete.
Allen graduated Summa Cum Laude (3.94 GPA) with a BS in mathematics.
