WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer returns to the friendly confines of Martin Family Stadium to take on Hofstra as part of Homecoming on Saturday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. from Martin Family Stadium and the match will be broadcast on Tribe Athletics TV.
Scouting the Tribe
- The Tribe sits at 4-6-2 on the year after suffering back-to-back setbacks to Old Dominion and at No. 4 Wake Forest. Prior to the losses, the Green and Gold won four in a row.
- W&M sits in fourth place in the Colonial Athletic Association standings at 2-1-1.
- For the fourth time in five weeks, the Tribe picked up a CAA weekly award on Monday as freshman
Alfredo Bozalongo was named the league's rookie of the week. He scored his first two collegiate goals on free kicks, including the game-winner with 11 seconds remaining in the first OT period, in a 2-1 victory over Elon on Oct. 9.

Kieran Baskett garnered the distinction twice on Sept. 14 and Oct. 7, while junior back
Sam Golan received the honor on Sept. 30 after tallying a goal and an assist in a road win at Charleston.

Nathan Messer garnered the CAA Rookie of the Year honor on Sept. 30 after assisting on the game-winner against Loyola Maryland and scoring the game-winner at Charleston, his first collegiate goal.
- In each of the last 10 matches, the Tribe has started at least five freshmen. Tuesday's match at Wake Forest marked the third time this season that six freshmen appeared in the W&M starting XI. It is the first time that has occurred since 2007.

Alexander Levengood, who netted his first career game-winner at Coastal Carolina chipping the goalkeeper from 25 yards out in the 96th minute, leads the Tribe in goals (4) and points (8). He ranks fifth in the CAA in goals.
- Baskett leads the CAA in saves (54) and save percentage (.753) while coming in second in shutouts (3) and fourth in goals against average (1.43). He is 13th nationally in saves and 61st in save percentage as of Oct. 16.
- Baskett tallied a career-high 11 saves against UNCW, which were the most for a W&M player since 1998 when Adin Brown tallied 12 against St. John's. The total was the most in a CAA game since 2015. He was named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his efforts.
- In total, 58.3 percent of the Tribe's starts this season (77-of-132) have come from its underclassmen – freshmen and sophomores. The rookies own 60 of those starts.
Scouting Hofstra
- The Pride had its contest on Wednesday night against Seton Hall canceled due to inclement weather in New York.
- Hofstra is 5-6-1 on the season and 2-2-1 in CAA play. In its most recent contest, the Pride played to a 1-1 draw at Drexel on Oct. 12.
- Against the Dragons, George O'Malley scored the equalizer on a set piece.
- As a team, Hofstra is averaging 1.58 goals per game, while allowing 1.83 per contest.
- Junior Matthew Vowinkel leads Hofstra with nine points on four goals and an assist. He ranks eighth in the league in points and fifth in goals.
- Senior Adam Savill ranks second in the CAA with four assists on the year. Both his goals this year against Charleston and Long Island proved to the game-winners.
- Graduate student Alex Ashton has seen the majority of action in goal for Hofstra with 11 starts. He ranks eighth in the CAA in goals against average at 1.62 to go with three shutouts and 35 saves. He is second in the league in shutouts and fourth in saves. Ashton tallied seven saves against Drexel.
Series History: W&M vs. Hofstra
- The Tribe leads the all-time series with the Pride at 12-8-3, including a 9-3-1 mark in Williamsburg.
- W&M has outscored Hofstra, 35-29, over the 23 games in the series.
- Last season, the Pride picked up a 4-0 win over the Tribe in Hempstead.
- W&M won the last meeting against Hofstra in Williamsburg, 2-0, during the 2017 season.
