WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Winners of four in a row, William & Mary men's soccer welcomes Hampton Roads rival Old Dominion to Williamsburg on Saturday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. from Martin Family Stadium and the match will be broadcast on Tribe Athletics TV.
It will be Youth Soccer Night on Saturday. All youth wearing their team jersey or warmup will receive $1 admission courtesy of Virginia Legacy.
Scouting the Tribe
- The Tribe won its fourth-straight match and second consecutive in overtime with a 2-1 triumph over Elon on Wednesday night. The Green and Gold is 4-4-2 on the year and 2-1-1 CAA action.
- Freshman
Alfredo Bozalongo scored twice off free kicks, including the game-winner with just 11 seconds remaining in the first extra period. The goals were the first of his Tribe career, and he became the first W&M freshman since
Reeves Trott in 2016 to record a brace. Bozalongo has six points on two goals and two assists this season.
- During its recent win streak, the Tribe downed Loyola Maryland (2-0), at Charleston (2-0) and at Coastal Carolina (1-0 in OT).
- On Monday, freshman goalkeeper
Kieran Baskett was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He recorded six saves in the Tribe's 1-0 overtime win at Coastal Carolina. It was his fourth match with five or more saves.
- In each of its last two victories, the Tribe started six freshmen. Redshirt freshman
Theo Biddle earned his first two collegiate starts and was joined in the first XI by
Alexander Levengood,
Nathan Messer, Bozalongo,
Marcos Villeda, and Baskett. W&M has started five or more freshmen in each of the last seven contests and is 4-2-1 during that stretch.
- Levengood netted his first career game-winner in the victory over Coastal as he chipped the Chanticleers' goalkeeper from 25 yards out for the 96th-minute golden goal. He leads W&M with four goals on the year, which ranks fourth in the CAA. He is also eighth in the league in points (8).

Diba Nwegbo, who registered the assist on Levengood's game-winner at CCU, is tied for the team lead with senior
Julian Ngoh and Bozalongo with two assists on the year. That total also ranks ninth in the CAA.

Sam Golan and freshman
Nathan Messer picked up weekly CAA honors on Sept. 30. Golan, who was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week thanks to a pair of shutouts and his first career game with a goal and an assist at Charleston. Messer picked up the CAA Rookie of the Week award tallying the game-winning goal at Charleston and assisting on the winner in the win over Loyola.
- Baskett leads the CAA in saves (45) and save percentage (.789) while coming in second in shutouts (3) and saves per game (4.50) and third in goals against average (1.13). His save total ranks 26th nationally as of Oct. 1.
- Baskett tallied a career-high 11 saves against UNCW, which were the most for a W&M player since 1998 when Adin Brown tallied 12 against St. John's. The total was the most in a CAA game since 2015. He was named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his efforts.
- Ngoh, who scored the game-winner vs. Loyola Maryland on Sept. 24, is tied for second on the team with six points on two goals and two assists. He ranks ninth in the CAA in assists.
- In total, six true freshmen (Villeda, Bozalongo, Nwegbo, Messer, Baskett and Levengood) have started at least one game this season. It marks the most true freshmen to start games in a season since 2011.
- In total, 57.3 percent of the Tribe's starts this season (63-of-110) have come from its underclassmen – freshmen and sophomores. The rookies own 49 of those starts.
Scouting Old Dominion
- Old Dominion enters the match with the Tribe at 2-7-1 on the year and 1-2-1 in Conference USA. The Monarchs suffered a 2-0 setback at UNCW on Wednesday night.
- ODU has lost four of its last five matches. The Monarchs most recent victory was a C-USA road win at South Carolina, 2-1, on Oct. 5. Old Dominion's other victory this season came against VCU, 3-1, at home in September.
- Offensively, ODU is scoring a goal per game and has been shutout four times.
- Junior Deniz Dogan, a transfer from Stetson who was the ASUN Freshman of the Year, leads ODU with four goals on the season, including a pair in the win over VCU.
- Senior Sebastien Hauret tallied a pair of goals for the Monarchs. He is a two-time All-Conference USA Third Team selection.
- Senior Jimmy Filerman and junior Kostas Mylonas are tied for the team lead with two assists apiece.
- Freshman Djibril Doumbia has started nine of the 10 matches in goal. He sports a 2.26 goals against average with 33 saves.
- Junior Oliver Padilla has appeared in two of the last three matches between the pipes, including starting in a 1-0 loss at Temple. He owns a 0.85 GAA over his 105 minutes of action.
Series History: W&M vs. Old Dominion
- The teams will meet in the regular season for the second-straight campaign. Last season, the Monarchs posted a 3-2 overtime win in Norfolk.
- W&M holds a 23-22-8 advantage in the all-times series with ODU.
- The Tribe has outscored Old Dominion 83-67 in the 53 all-time meetings.
