ELON, N.C. – William & Mary baseball senior
Ryan Hall advanced to sixth in school history in career hits during a 17-4 loss at Elon on Friday afternoon. Hall recorded his 14
th multiple hit game to lead the Tribe (15-38, 3-20 CAA) versus the Phoenix (34-21, 15-8 CAA).
Trailing by nine runs, W&M generated a three-run frame in the fifth in an effort to rally. Three consecutive singles from freshman
Matt McDermott and sophomores
Patrick Ryan and
Brandon Raquet loaded the bases. Junior
Zach Pearson and Hall both drove in runs via ground out, before junior
Hunter Smith slapped a two-out RBI single to right field for a 9-3 affair.
However, the Phoenix kept its foot on the gas pedal after producing eight runs over the next three innings. In the top of the eighth, Hall smoked a lead off bomb to left center for the Tribe's fourth run.

Hall drove in two runs to go along with his two hits, while junior
Jason Waldman also knocked a pair of base hits. Pearson and Smith both singled and posted an RBI. Senior
Craig McLane came off the bench to go 1-for-2 at the dish.
Inside the Numbers
- The Phoenix finished the contest hitting .425 (17-for-40) and the Tribe batted .278 (10-for-36).
- Elon claimed the advantage in extra base hits, 5-to-1.
- With runners in scoring position, W&M hit .200 (2-for-10) and Elon held a .444 (8-for-18) rate.
- George Kirby (10-2) earned the win by lasting six innings with six strikeouts and three runs on eight hits.
- Sophomore
Wade Strain (2-5) took the loss as he conceded seven hits and nine runs (eight earned) in two innings.
Notes
Hall has totaled 237 hits over the span of his W&M career… Hall also made his 218
th career start, which ranks second in school history, and crushed his 17
th home run at W&M…Waldman tied his season-best in hits for the second time this year…Smith drove in his 21
st two-out RBI.
