WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball team was held to just three hits in a 6-1 setback against Towson to conclude the Colonial Athletic Association series on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (7-22, 4-5) did not surrender an earned run in preventing the Tribe (13-20, 3-6) from completing a weekend sweep.
Towson scored all the runs it would need to win the game in the first three innings. A two-out RBI single in the first inning followed by sacrifice fly in the third put the Tribe down 2-0. W&M walked in an unearned run in the fourth, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.
However, the Tigers scored four unanswered runs to take the finale. In the fifth inning, Trey Martinez lead off with a single and Dirk Masters drew a walk, before Billy Lennox bunted them over. Richie Palacios then hit RBI single that tagged the pitcher in the back for another one-run frame. TU would go on to tack on three unearned insurance runs in the ninth.
