Baseball Falls to Quinnipiac in Series Finale

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball team fell to Quinnipiac, 11-2, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats (3-3) finished with 12 hits for the second time in the three-game set to best the Tribe (1-7).

The Bobcats scored five runs in the first three frames, but the Tribe kept the game within reach after responding in the bottom of the fourth. Senior Luca Farina lead off with a walk, before sophomore Patrick Ryan and junior Hunter Smith both singled to load the bases. Junior Colin Lipke grounded into a double play, but Smith was still able to make it home. A QU throwing error also allowed Ryan to score, trimming the deficit to 5-2.

However, the Bobcats continued to churn out runs to lead the contest from wire-to-wire. Quinnipiac posted a trio of two-run frames in the fifth, sixth and ninth to come away with the win.

Tribe Standouts.
Farina was the only player to collect multiple hits after finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Freshman Matt McDermott, senior Craig McLane, junior Zach Pearson, Ryan, and Smith all had a base hit. Sophomore Wade Strain and rookie Justin Pearson both tossed a scoreless inning.
