- W&M leads the all-time series with Hofstra, 10-7, including four wins in the last five meetings. The Pride won the last match in Williamsburg, however, 3-2 in 2015, and lead 5-4 all-time at Busch Field.
- Northeastern leads the series with the Tribe, 11-6 all-time, including a 5-3 advantage in Williamsburg. Last year, W&M picked up a 3-1 victory on the road, and last won at home back in 2011. Only four times has the margin of victory been greater than two goals.
News and Notes
- Since the CAA began play in 1991, W&M is 89-81 (.524) in league play. That includes a 7-0 regular-season title in 2004, as well as four more seasons where the Tribe only lost one game in conference, most recently last year (5-1).
- W&M's 8-0 win over La Salle broke the school record for points in a game, with 24 (8g,8a). The previous record was 23 points (9g,5a) set in 1990 against Lehigh. The game also saw W&M's second-most assists ever (8), t-3rd-most goals (8), and t-8th-most shots (40).
- MacLeod was named CAA Player of the Week, affter scoring three goals and two assists in the two games. The senior had two goals against Pacific, and then a third goal and two assists in the win over La Salle. She's one of just three players in school history (alongside Lloyd and Kelly Giles '06) to be named CAA Player of the Week in consecutive seasons.
- Sophomore
Christie van de Kamp (Midlothian, Va.) scored her first career assists and goals this weekend. Against Pacific on Friday night, she had a pair of assists, and Sunday, added her first-ever goal.
- Freshman
Melanie Strik (Den Haag, The Netherlands) also scored her first career goal against La Salle.
- In addition to van de Kamp's double-helper on Friday, four more players had two assists each on Sunday in the win over La Salle. Hughes, Menges, MacLeod, and sophomore
Annie Snead (Midlothian, Va.) all had two assists, which is tied for 10th-most in school history in a single game.
- Hooper was named CAA Player of the Week on Sept. 12, after scoring two goals including the game-winner against No. 7 Michigan. She currently leads the CAA with three game-winning goals.
- In addition to Connor,
Meredith Clay (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Jessica Wiggins (Williamsburg, Va.) have both seen time in goal this season. This is only the fifth year that W&M has had three or more goalkeepers see playing time, joining 2013, 2012, 1998, and 1995.
- W&M's No. 18 ranking in Weeks 2 & 3 were the highest for the Tribe since reaching No. 17 midway through the 2006 season. Since 1993, the highest W&M has been ranked in the coaches poll was ninth, in the second poll of the 2000 season.
- The Tribe has been ranked for 100 games since 1993 coming into this weekend, with a 50-50 (.500) winning percentage in those matches. When the Tribe has been favored in those matches, its winning percentage has jumped to 40-21 (.656).
- Three of the Tribe's four losses have come against top-10 ranked teams, while all four teams that beaten W&M are currently ranked (No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Viginia, No. 9 Boston College, and No. 23 Pacific).
- W&M is rated No. 16 in the latest NCAA RPI, third-best in the CAA, and has the league's best Strength of Schedule at No. 14 nationally.
- The W&M defense made three defensive saves in the loss to Boston College, its best total since making four against Old Dominion back in 2005.
Cassidy Goodwin (Gloucester, Va.) made two stops and
Katherine Hull (Fredericksburg, Va.) one, all to preserve what was then a 0-0 deadlock.
- Connor made 14 saves against Boston College, beating her previous career high by three saves. That was the most saves in a single game by a Tribe goalkeeper since the 2009 season, and combined with the three defensive saves, W&M's 17 total stops were the most for a single game since 2002.
- With both UC Davis and Pacific on the schedule, this the first year since 1985 that W&M will play multiple West Coast teams in the same year. Back then, it was San Jose State (who no longer has a team) and Stanford who had the honors. Currently, there are only four West Coast field hockey teams in the NCAA - UC Davis, Pacific, Stanford, and California.
- Tribe players had an outstanding summer on the Team USA circuit, with six players being invited to the YWNC, and five of those earning an invitation onwards to the Team USA selection camps.
Erin Menges was named to the National Developmental Squad, while
Christie van de Kamp was chosen for the U21 National Team and
Annie Snead was named an alternate to the U21 team as well.
- At the conclusion of spring training, the team selected
Erin Menges and
Katelyn Rennyson (Centreville, Va.) as team captains.
