BOSTON (April 14, 2016)— William & Mary lacrosse assistant coach Kara Mupo became part of history on Wednesday evening, as she was selected by the Philadelphia Force with the 11th overall pick in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) draft.
 
The four-team league draft included eight rounds with each organization receiving one selection during the first six rounds and two picks during the final two rounds.
 
The UWLX, which is the first semi-professional post-collegiate women's lacrosse league, will play a 16-game schedule beginning on May 28 and concluding in July.
 
W&M is also represented in the UWLX by former two-time All-American Danielle Gallagher, who serves as general manager for the Long Island Sound. Following her outstanding collegiate career, Gallagher went on to compete as a member of the U.S. women's lacrosse team.
 
Mupo is currently in her first season as an assistant on the Tribe's staff and recently wrapped up an extraordinary collegiate playing career at Northwestern where she helped the Wildcats win a pair of national championships and advance to the Final Four on four occasions.
 
Mupo served as a team captain at NU during her senior season and finished her collegiate career with 186 points (136g, 50a).
