CHARLESTON, S.C. – The William and Mary baseball team dropped an elimination game to 5-seeded Delaware 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in Charleston, S.C. on Thursday afternoon. With the decision, the Tribe falls to 22-30, while Blue Hens improve to 24-23.

Freshman Ryan Hall led the Tribe with a 2-for-3 game, while junior Josh Smith drove in the team's lone run.

Delaware jumped on the board first with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Diaz Nardo led off the inning with a double into left field, moving to third on a wild pitch. A one out sacrifice fly by Brock Niggebrugge accounted for the game's first run. The next batter, Joe Giacchino doubled down the left field line, before a Tribe error gave the Blue Hens a 2-0 lead.

William & Mary took advantage of an unearned run with a two-out rally in the top of the seventh inning. Senior Devin White reached after a strikeout on a passed ball. After a pair of outs, Smith tripled into the right center field gap, cutting the lead to 2-1.

The Blue Hens added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Norm Donkin led off the inning with triple to center field. The next batter, Greg Olenski singled into right, giving UD a 3-1 lead.

Sophomore Nick Brown made the start for the Green and Gold and pitched a complete game. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, while picking up six strikeouts. He was saddled with his fourth loss of the season.

Delaware's Adam Davis also pitched a complete game, scattering five hits and an unearned run with his six strikeouts. It was his sixth win of the season.
