BLACKSBURG, Va. (March 29, 2015) – The William and Mary lacrosse team closed out its non-conference slate with a 12-10 setback at Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon.
Although W&M (4-6) led 3-2 early in the first half, Virginia Tech (6-7) pulled ahead with a pivotal 5-0 run and never relinquished its lead.
W&M narrowed the deficit to just two goals on multiple occasions during the second half, but the Hokies responded with goals each time.

However, the Hokies closed out the first half with a 6-1 run to build an 8-4 advantage at halftime. The College's lone goal during the stretch came from junior Zoe Boger with 9:19 showing.
Although the Tribe opened the second half by scoring three of the first four goals to narrow the margin to 9-7 with 18:23 left, the teams then traded scores three times during the remainder of regulation as VT held on for the narrow victory.
Shaffrey and Corkum provided all of W&M's goals in the second half, as each found the back of the cage three times in the final 30 minutes.
Both teams finished the contest with 21 shots, but VT owned advantages in ground balls (16-11) and draw controls (15-9).
