Box Score The William & Mary volleyball team started the week off on a high note Monday, sweeping Delaware 3-0 in a rare weekday-afternoon match on Fall Break.  With the win, the Tribe improved to 8-12 overall and 2-5 in the Colonial Athletic Association, while the Blue Hens fell to 9-10 (1-5 CAA).

The Tribe got production from every position to trounce the Blue Hens, led by senior Dessi Koleva's (Torrance, Calif.) 15 kills and seven digs while hitting .382.  Sophomore Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) continued her streak of strong play with nine kills on a .300 attack with two aces, and classmate Paige Humphrey (Oak Hill, Va.) was un-stoppable with seven kills on nine attempts.

Senior Olivia Jebb (Cornwall, N.Y.) had a career-best outing, making 16 digs along with three assists, and classmate Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) made four kills against no errors, and also chipped in a pair of blocks.  She is now just 10 blocks away from 400 in her career.  Freshman Heather Pippus (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was quietly spectacular all the way around, scoring seven kills with seven digs, and tying her career-high with three service aces.  Junior Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had another double-double with 19 assists and 13 digs, and also added in two kills and an ace, while Katie Kemp (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Austyn Ames (Wichita, Kan.) made six assists each while splitting time.

The first set was the closest of the three, with the Tribe eking out a 25-23 win.  Pippus got the Green and Gold started off right with a 6-0 run that included both of her service aces.  The Blue Hens came back a couple times and were able to cut the lead down to one, but each time W&M would respond with a kill to begin running away again.  At 18-17, a Delaware error was followed up by a kill by Humphrey, and began a mini-run that put the Tribe ahead by five, 22-17.  The visitors had one last gasp to pull within 23-22, but Koleva sealed them off with two kills in three points to win the set.

The second set started with an ace from Pe, and the Tribe never looked back.  Delaware threatened at 9-9, but Biniak slammed a ball home and gave serve back to Pippus, who again showed her maturity by looking over an 8-0 run including her third ace.  From there, the Blue Hens never got closer than six points as W&M ran away to a 25-16 victory.  The third set was a little closer at the end, but again, the Green and Gold jumped on the visitors early and sat on them the rest of the way.  The set included a 10-3 run to break apart a 9-8 situation, and the Tribe once again cruised to a 25-21 win.

William & Mary ends its six-game homestand this weekend, hosting Elon at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.  The night will be the Tribe's "Spike Out Breast Cancer" event, and all fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
