The William and Mary field hockey team lost on the road at Richmond Sunday, falling by a score of 2-1. The Tribe moves to 0-2 on the year, while the Spiders improved to 2-0.
Box ScoreW&M got on the board first in this one, scoring off a corner in the 17th minute. Junior
Peyton Smith (Richmond, Va.) took the first shot off the insertion that bounced off of the goalkeeper's pads, and was right there to clean-up the rebound into the near corner of the net. It was Smith's first career goal, and the first of the season for the Tribe.
Richmond would respond in the 27th minute, batting a ball out of the air behind the Tribe goalkeeper and in, knotting the score 1-1 at the half. Coming out of the intermission, the Spiders got the go-ahead tally off of a corner in the 44th minute. In goal for the Tribe, junior

William and Mary is back in action this coming weekend Sept. 5-6, traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Michigan Wolverine Classic. The Tribe will face Central Michigan on Friday, at 2 p.m., before taking on No. 17 Michigan Saturday at 1 p.m.
