WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Former William and Mary baseball pitcher John Sheehan '14 inked his first professional contract to play with the Colorado Rockies earlier this week. He begins his professional career with the Tri-City Dirt Devils.
Sheehan finished his career with the Tribe this past season making 13 starts. He finished the season with a 5-6 record and a 4.00 ERA. He tossed 81 innings allowing 81 hits, 46 runs (36 earned), with 36 strikeouts. He turned in nine quality starts (6.0 innings pitched, less then three earned runs).
The Westwood, Massachusetts native finished his career with 58 appearances, making 17 starts, and tossing one complete game. He logged 152.1 innings with a 107 strikeouts. He finished career with a 4.49 ERA and a 12-9 record.
Sheehan becomes the fourth Tribe player to ink a professional contract this season. He joins Michael Katz (New York Mets), Ryan Lindemuth (New York Yankees), and Nick Thompson (St. Louis Cardinals), who have already begun their professional careers. With Sheehan's signing, the Tribe baseball program has had seven players drafted or signed over the last three seasons.
