ANNAPOLIS, Md. (March 29, 2014) – The 12th-ranked William and Mary men's gymnastics team closed out an impressive showing at the 2014 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship by winning four individual event titles on Saturday afternoon.
Additionally, senior standout Landon Funiciello was honored as the ECAC Senior Gymnast of the Year, while head coach Cliff Gauthier and assistant coach Pete Walker were chosen as the league's top head coach and assistant coach, respectively.
In addition to the four event titles, eight Tribe gymnasts combined to earn 13 all-conference honors.
Sophomore Neal Courter recorded the top scores on floor (14.95) and vault (14.9), while Funiciello (16.0) and junior Jason Wang (14.85) won the rings and pommel horse titles, respectively. Courter also placed third on high bar (14.2), while Funiciello finished second on floor (14.65).
Senior Daniel Potemski also garnered multiple all-conference accolades and placed third on parallel bars (13.9), tied for fifth on floor (14.2) and sixth on vault (14.45).
Also earning all-conference distinction were senior Sam Patterson (parallel bars, 2nd, 14.05), junior Peter Ten Eyck (pommel horse, 2nd, 14.8), junior Michael Deitz (high bar, 2nd, 14.45) and junior J.J. Jindra (parallel bars, 4th, 13.75).
The Tribe will return to action when it competes at the NCAA Championships hosted by Michigan on April 10-12.
