Tribe Men?s Gymnastics to Host USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 26, 2013)—The No. 12 William and Mary men's gymnastics team will host the 2013 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships this weekend at Kaplan Arena.
 
Friday's competition will get underway at 6 p.m., and will include the team and all-around finals, as well as the individual event preliminaries. The top eight performers (with no more than two gymnasts per team) in each event will advance to the individual finals on Saturday, which will begin at 2 p.m. The top six scorers in all-around and each event final will earn All-America honors.
 
The USAG Collegiate Championships will feature four varsity teams (W&M, Air Force, Navy and Springfield), as well as three club programs (Arizona State, SUNY Brockport and Washington).
 
Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or by calling the Tribe Ticket Office at 757-221-3340. Adult tickets are available for $10, while youth ages 2-17 are just $5 per person. Groups of 10, or more, may purchase discounted tickets for $1 less than the standard price. W&M students receive free admission with an ID.
 
W&M enters this weekend's meet ranked among the nation's top 15 in all six events – pommel horse, 10th (69.117), vault, 12th (71.750), parallel bars, 12th (69.667), high bar, 13th (68.117), rings, 14th (69.283) and floor, 15th (70.217).
 
Individually, junior Daniel Potemski has been the team's top all-arounder this season and ranks eighth nationally with a four-score average of 83.600. Additionally, he leads the team on pommel horse (14.250) and high bar (14.033). Junior Landon Funiciello ranks eighth nationally on rings (15.350) and leads the team on parallel bars (14.633), while freshman Neal Courter has been the squad's top performer on floor (14.650) and vault (14.800).
 
Following this weekend's meet, the Tribe will compete at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Springfield on April 5-6.
