WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 5, 2012) - Former William and Mary standout running back
Jonathan Grimes was recently honored as a recipient of the National Strength
and Conditioning Association (NSCA) annual All-American Strength and
Conditioning Athlete of the Year award.
The NSCA
All-American Athlete of the Year program is in its 33rd year and recognizes
student-athletes' dedication to strength training and conditioning. Grimes was
selected for the honor by William and Mary speed, strength and conditioning
coach John Sauer, CSCS,*D.
"Jonathan is
the most decorated player in the history of William and Mary football," Sauer
said. "Despite all of the accolades, he has never failed to give 100 percent in
any aspect of our strength and conditioning program. His energy and enthusiasm
for training and competing carries over to those around him. It has been an
absolute pleasure working with this young man."
One of the
greatest players in Colonial Athletic Association history, Grimes finished his
career with a league-record 11 all-conference accolades. Additionally, the
Palmyra, N.J., finished his career as W&M's all-time leader in rushing
yards (4,541), all-purpose yards (7,955), kickoff return yards (2,289) and
rushing attempts (936). Additionally, he ranks third on the CAA's career
all-purpose yards list and sixth on the league's career rushing yards list.

football standouts who have earned the NSCA honor include Derek Cox ('09) of
the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sean Lissemore ('10) of the Dallas Cowboys and Adrian
Tracy ('10) of the New York Giants.
