NEWARK, Del. - The
William and Mary Tribe men's soccer team lost to the Delaware Blue Hens on the
road Saturday night, 2-0. With the loss,
the College falls to 8-7 on the season and to 5-4 in the CAA. With the victory, the Blue hens improve to
10-3-1 and to 5-3 in league play.
Sophomore Chris Perez led William and Mary with three shots
on the night, getting a team-high two of those looks on frame. Senior Nicolas Abrigo and freshman Michael Teiman each had two shots with one on goal.
After taking four shots in the first 45 minutes and not
getting a shot on target, the Tribe took seven shots in the second half and got
four of them on goal. For the match,
Delaware out shot the Green and Gold, 12-11.
Delaware used a pair of goals from Evans Frimpong, one in
the first half and one in the second, to take the match against the Tribe. In the first half, Frimpong scored on a
bicycle kick and in the second on a give-and-go with Roberto Gimenez. Delaware's win over the College was its first
since the 2006 season.
The William and Mary Tribe men's soccer team will hit the
road this Tuesday to play traditional ACC power Wake Forest. Kickoff in Winston-Salem is scheduled for 7
