Blacksburg, Va. - The William and Mary
Tribe men's swimming and diving team got back in the pool on Saturday
after the long winter break, falling to the Virginia Tech Hokies in
Blacksburg, 162-117. With the defeat, the Tribe's dual-meet record on
the season stands at 5-2.
Freshman
Andrew Strait continued where he left on in the fall
season, winning the 200 breast in a time of 2:09.44. The victory was
the seventh on the season for the rookie from Henrico, Virginia.
One of the better individual performances for the College came in
the 3-meter dive, where senior
Mike Newcomb set a personal best,
totaling a score of 232.88. With his score, Newcomb moves up to sixth
place all-time in school history.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Glass, sophomore
Ben Ward,
junior
Evan Mulloy, and senior
Michael Naccarelli had a very nice swim,
coming in third place with a time of 1:33.96. With that mark, the relay
team now ranks ninth all-time at the College.
The William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team will next
be in action on Saturday, January 29, when the College will face both
CAA-rival Delaware as well as the University of Maryland-Baltimore
County. The meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
