The William & Mary men's swimming team, coming off its win in the season-opener, looks to keep its record perfect on Homecoming hosting Georgetown at 5 p.m. The Tribe and the Hoyas will square off at the Rec Center Pool, beginning at 5 p.m. Live results will be available both on TribeAthletics.com, and on the Meet Mobile app.
HOMECOMING PARKING ADVISORYThe start of the meet will coincide with the conclusion of the Homecoming Parade, which means parking will be very interesting. The safest recommendation is to park at the School of Education lot, on Monticello Avenue, and follow the walking path up Compton Dr. to the Rec Center. Another option will be to try the Adair Parking Deck, and then walk up Ukrop way to approach the Rec Center from the opposite direction. Scouting the TribeW&M is 1-0 on the year and 1-0 in the CAA, after downing Towson 161-101 two weeks ago. Tribe senior
Jeremiah O'Donnell (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was named the CAA Swimmer of the Week after winning all three of his races, including a dual-meet record in the 200 breast and a lifetime-best in the 100 breast. Sophomore
Tommy Kealy (Wilton, Conn.) also set a dual-meet record in the 200 fly, and
Billy Russell (Newport News, Va.) began his senior year with a pool record in the 200 free.
Scouting the HoyasGeorgetown enters the week at 0-2 overall, with a loss to Towson last week and Delaware in their opener. Notable Hoyas to watch include Arthur Wang, who won the 100 breast against Delaware, and Martin Vanin, who also won against the Blue Hens in the 100 fly. Jesse Gibson was the winner in the 200 fly against Towson.
News and Notes- The meet will be held in a somewhat different format than usual for the Tribe, an 11-event schedule. Instead of swimming both the 100 and 200 versions of all three strokes, Friday will just include the 200-yard events. All five freestyle races will be swum as usual, as well as the 200 IM, the 400 medley relay, and the 200 free relay. The last time W&M swam an 11-event format was also against Georgetown, back in 2012.
- The Tribe men are on a four-meet winning streak dating back to last year. The last time W&M lost was Nov. 7, 2014, to Duke.
- O'Donnell has now won his last nine collegiate races, spanning the Towson meet and last springs' CAA Championships.
- With his two wins in the season-opener, senior
Will Manion (Haddonfield, N.J.) up his career-record to 7-1 against Towson, losing only the 50 free in 2012, his freshman year. Manion has also won at least one race in all but two dual-meets in his career - against Virginia Tech during that freshman campaign, and Mary Washington in the first meet of his sophomore year.
- Season Totals for the Year: 1 Personal best, 3 Dual-Meet Records, 2 Pool Records (1 by W&M)
