NORFOLK, VA - Senior
Eric Druker (Wildwood, MO) won two events as William and Mary men's swimming and diving defeated Delaware at Old Dominion's Pod Meet this Friday and Saturday to split in dual meet action at the meet. The Tribe downed the Blue Hens 215-109 while Old Dominion defeated the College 194.5 to 139.5. By splitting at the meet, W&M moves to 2-4 on the season (2-3 CAA).
Druker led a strong effort for the Green and Gold, recording two wins over the two day meet. The senior continued his amazing streak in the 50 free, clocking a 22.08 to remain undefeated and capture his fifth-straight win the event. Druker continued to roll, timing a 52.13 in the 100 fly for his second victory of the meet. Also contributing heavily was senior
Bob Brofft (Fairfax, VA), who led a Tribe sweep of the podium in the 200 breast with a season-fast pace of 2:13.25. Junior
Jeff Clark (Virginia Beach, VA) claimed runner-up honors in the event, ahead of sophomore
Andrew Carberry (Talbott, TN) in third for a one-two-three W&M finish. Junior
Jake Albright (Carlisle, PA) won the 100 back in 54.73, over a second ahead of second place, while senior
Bruce Thomas (McLean, VA) won the 100 breast in 59.64, ahead of Clark in third.
W&M also saw a number of solid showings on the afternoon, as Brofft continued his fine meet with a second-place in the 200 IM, clocking a season-fast 2:02.69. Senior
Scott Rhodes (Norfolk, VA) then hit a big performance in the 200 free, swimming a season-fast time of 1:46.98, bettering his previous best this year by some five seconds. Junior
Tony Wareck (Lancaster, MA) claimed runner-up honors in the 200 fly while freshman
Alex Jendzejec (Reston, VA) led a two-three showing in the 400 IM, ahead of junior
Matt Wolff (Annandale, VA) in third. Druker tied for third in the 100 free, while Wolff claimed second in the 200 back, ahead of sophomore
Joey Peterson (Williamsburg, VA) in third. The Tribe posted runner-up showings in all three relays, with Druker, sophomore
Nick Duda (Vienna, VA), Albright and junior
Bob Jacobsen (Williamsburg, VA) combining for second in the 200 free relay to start things off. In the 200 medley relay, junior
Evan Elsaesser (Reston, VA), Clark, Wareck and Jacobsen combined for second while in the 400 free relay Rhodes, Albright, Druker and Duda teamed for runner-up honors.
W&M returns to action at Maryland's Terrapin Invitational, its last meet of the fall season, November 18-20.
