PRINCETON, NJ - Competing at the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships the William & Mary women's track team garnered three All-East honors and posted several impressive finishes from its athletes with three days of action in the books.
A trio of Tribe runner that had already posted NCAA provisional marks in their recpective events took the track against some of the East's best this weekend and earned Regional honors.? Junior
Cheryl Bauer (Rockaway, NJ) and sophomores
Ali Henderson (Pittsburgh, PA) and
Maura McMahon (Westfield, NJ) each took home honors with their efforts.
Bauer kicked in another NCAA provisional mark in the 5,000 meter run with a fourth place performance.? Her time of 16:31.60 in the 5k was a personal-best for the junior distance ace.? Henderson also set a personal-best mark in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, with a time of 10:29.83.? With the mark, Henderson placed fourth overall in the steeplechase and set a new school record in the event.? McMahon, competing in the 10,000 meter run, was the Tribe's highest finisher at the ECAC's thus far, taking second overall in the event.? The sophomore finished with a time of 35:37.42.
In the heptathlon, two Tribe athletes competed as juniors
Alarice Cesareo (Watchung, NJ) and
Lora Meekins (Herndon, VA) finished seventh and tenth respectively.? Cesareo finished up with 4,561 points, while Meekins tallied 3,410.? The point total was a personal-best for Cesareo.
William & Mary's 4x800 team also competed in the event semifinals.? The team of juniors
Kristen Ryan (Garden City, NY) and
Meghan Kober (Gillette, NJ) and sophomore
Stephanie Blake (Hopewell Jct., NY) and senior
Colleen Wrenn (Palo Alto, CA) kicked in a time of 9:06.83.? The time put the squad in the eight-team field that advances to the event finals tomorrow.
William & Mary currently sits at second overall (20 points) as a team, with six events scored, behind Virginia (32).? Tomorrow, May 19, marks the relay intensive portion of the ECAC Championships, which will conclude early in the afternoon.
