DEDHAM, Mass. — William & Mary was shut out in its CAA opener at Northeastern on Friday, falling by a 2-0 final at Dedham Field.
W&M (1-6, 0-1 CAA) leaned on goalkeeper
Alexandra de Jesus in the first quarter, as she made three saves to keep Northeastern (3-5, 2-0) off the board.
The Huskies generated six shots and two penalty corners, but the Green and Gold blocked two attempts and de Jesus stopped the other shots on goal as the quarter ended in a 0-0 tie.
The Tribe fell behind in the second when Northeastern scored the game's first goal at 20:22 as Maggie Lundy found the goal. W&M went into halftime down 1-0.
In the third quarter, the Huskies went ahead 2-0 on a goal from Phoebe Hall at 38:26. De Jesus made two saves in the quarter, while
Callia Uviedo put the Tribe's first shot on goal at 41:21.
Josie Mae Gruendel recorded two shots on goal during the contest, both in the opening minutes of the fourth. The Green and Gold pressed late in the game with a pair of penalty corners but was unable to beat Northeastern keeper Aiko Price.
de Jesus recorded six saves in 57:04 for W&M.
