WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis earned a 4–1 victory over Delaware on Thursday at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
The win improves the Tribe to 8–12 on the season, while the Blue Hens fall to 13–8.
William & Mary set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The top tandem of Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg cruised to a 6–2 victory, while Dylan Chou and Albert Hansen followed with a 6–4 win at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match went unfinished with Delaware leading 5–4. Hague and Trakhtenberg improved to 11–4 in dual match play this season.
In singles play, William & Mary won three of the first four completed matches to clinch the contest. Gur Trakhtenberg battled back for a 3–6, 6–2, 6–4 victory at No. 1, while Oliver Hague rallied for a 6–7, 6–1, 6–0 win at No. 2. Nikita Bortnichek added a three-set triumph at No. 3 (3–6, 6–3, 6–0) to secure the match and improve to 7–10 in dual match singles this season. Hague improved to 13–14, while Trakhtenberg moved to 10–6.
Delaware's lone point came at No. 4, where Austin Cohen fell in straight sets. The matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles went unfinished.
