WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis closed the regular season with a 4–2 victory over James Madison on Senior Day at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
The win gives the Tribe back-to-back victories to finish the regular season at 9–12 overall, while James Madison saw its four-match winning streak snapped and fell to 12–7.
William & Mary set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The top tandem of Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg earned a 6–4 victory, improving to 12 dual wins together to lead the team, while Nikita Bortnichek and Theo Nilsson added a 6–3 win at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match went unfinished with the Tribe leading 5–4.
In singles play, William & Mary won three matches to clinch the team result. Oliver Hague led the way with a 7–5, 6–1 victory at No. 2, securing his team-best 14th dual singles win of the season. Nikita Bortnichek followed with a dominant 6–1, 6–2 win at No. 3, and Dylan Chou sealed the match with a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 5, 4-6, 6–2, 7–6 (7–1).
James Madison picked up its points at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, while the No. 6 match went unfinished.
With the regular season complete, William & Mary will await its postseason fate as the field for the CAA Championship, set for April 17–19 in Williamsburg, is finalized.
