Tribe Tops No. 3 Campbell 4–0, Moves on to CAA Semifinals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis made history with a 4–0 sweep of No. 3 seed Campbell on Friday at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts in the quarterfinals of the CAA Championship.

The victory marks the first time in tournament history that a No. 6 seed has defeated a No. 3 seed and extends the Tribe's winning streak to three matches. William & Mary improves to 10–12 on the season, while Campbell closes its year at 9–12.

The Tribe set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The top tandem of Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg rolled to a 6–1 victory, continuing their strong dual campaign as the team's winningest pair, while Nikita Bortnichek and Theo Nilsson added a 6–3 win at No. 3 to secure the early advantage.

In singles play, William & Mary delivered a dominant performance, winning three straight matches in straight sets to clinch the sweep. Oliver Hague led the charge at No. 2 with a commanding 6–1, 6–1 victory, improving on his team-best 15 dual singles wins this spring. Dylan Chou followed with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 and Nikita Bortnichek clinched the match for the Tribe with a 6–1, 7–5 win at No. 3.

With the win, the Tribe advances to the CAA semifinals, where it will face No. 2 seed Elon on Saturday, April 18 at 12 p.m. at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.

Earlier this season, Elon defeated William & Mary, 6–1, on March 20, and the all-time series between the programs is tied at 9–9, with the Phoenix winning the last three meetings.
