WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis saw its season come to a close with a 4–0 loss to No. 2 seed Elon in the semifinals of the CAA Championship on Saturday at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
The Tribe finishes the year at 10–13 overall after going 1–1 in the conference tournament, including a historic 4–0 quarterfinal victory over No. 3 seed Campbell on Friday. Elon improves to 7–12 and advances to the CAA Championship final.
Elon claimed the early momentum by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The Phoenix edged the Tribe's top pair of Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg in a tight 7–6 (7–2) decision, while Elon added a 6–3 win at No. 2. The match at No. 3, featuring Nikita Bortnichek and Theo Nilsson, was left unfinished with the Phoenix leading 6-5.
In singles play, Elon quickly closed out the match with three straight-set victories. Veljko Krstic defeated Gur Trakhtenberg 6–1, 6–2 at the top spot, and Charles Pilet added a 6–3, 6–1 win over Albert Hansen at No. 6. Rafael Ymer clinched the match for the Phoenix with a 6–4, 6–3 victory over Oliver Hague at No. 2.
Three additional singles matches went unfinished at the time of the decision.
Saturday's result marks the end of the 2026 campaign for William & Mary, which closed the season winning three of its final four matches, including a run to the CAA semifinals.
